What’s a book or movie that genuinely scared you?
Generally fear based stuff is just not my preferred genre. I don’t enjoy being scared while I know many do. Just gives me feelings that are very uncomfortable for me.
But I do have a short story. To this day I have never seen any of the Scream movies. I just won’t watch them at all and quite frankly I have no desire. Though, ghost face is such a popular character with kids…..it’s kinda bizarre.
Anyways…..
When I was about 6 or 7 years old my family (I think my dad and brothers) were watching the first scream out in the family room. I snuck out of my room, crawled on the floor, hid behind the couch and watched what I could.
I saw the whole complete opening scene. Etched in my brain is the boyfriend in the chair being killed and her hanging from the tree at the end.
Only scene I have ever seen from the whole franchise and that was enough to traumatize me for years.
And honestly, it’s really hard for me to wrap my head around why so many enjoy watching others get murdered. Sure it’s “fake” but still……the premise is the same.
My head goes to children……there are kids that watch these movies. Their parents actually let them. What kind of seeds do they believe they are planting allowing their young children to watch people get murdered?
A child’s brain is still growing and children cannot still decipher truly what is real and what is not.
Honestly, maybe deep down it really bothers me that these type of movies even exist. To some it may be fun and games, but I look at the bigger picture and I see so much more.
